PKM Południe and the development of infrastructure in southern Gdansk
Preparation of design documentation (including technical support) and obtaining permits for the implementation of the project entitled: "Development of transport infrastructure in the southern districts of Gdansk" divided into tasks
The investment consists of three complementary tasks: the construction of Phase II of the Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway on the Gdansk Śródmieście - Kowale section, and two road investments - the construction of Nowa Sandomierska Street and Phase II of Nowa Świętokrzyska Street.
The main element of the undertaking is the construction of approximately 7 km of a new, double-track, electrified railway line, along with six new passenger stations and modern transfer hubs integrating rail, tram, bus, bicycle, and pedestrian transport. The project also includes the construction of numerous engineering structures, including bridges, viaducts, tunnels, a multi-level parking garage, and a Local Control Centre building.
The road component provides for the construction of new transport systems improving the accessibility of southern districts of Gdansk, the elimination of at-grade railway crossings, and the expansion of infrastructure for public transport, pedestrians, and cyclists.
The aim of the project is to improve transport links to the city's rapidly developing southern districts, enhance the quality of public transport, and reduce traffic congestion and pollution by shifting some journeys from cars to rail.
The scope of the contract includes the preparation of complete design documentation, technical and traffic analyses, geotechnical surveys, environmental documentation, construction and detail design documents, as well as tender materials for future construction works. As part of the implementation, we are also responsible for obtaining environmental decisions, site location decisions, building permits, ZRID approvals, and all required arrangements with utility network operators and administrative authorities.
An essential element of the project is the application of BIM technology, the preparation of digital infrastructure models, and the use of a Common Data Environment (CDE) to manage design documentation.
The documentation is to take into account railway interoperability requirements, including the deployment of ERTMS/ETCS Level 2 systems, modern railway traffic control systems, telecommunications, and traction power supply. The scope of the contract also provides for the preparation of visualisations, promotional materials, multi-criteria analyses, and the provision of technical support during tender procedures.
The entire undertaking is designed to create a modern, integrated transport system for the southern part of Gdansk, improving residents' mobility and strengthening the role of rail transport as the primary mode of communication in the Tricity agglomeration.
Optionally, upon completion of the design phase, we will provide author's supervision during the execution of construction works for all three investment tasks.
We are carrying out this project as part of a consortium with the following partners: Biuro Projektów Komunikacyjnych w Poznaniu sp. z o.o. and Mosty Gdańsk sp. z o.o.
