Rail link to Warsaw-Modlin Airport

Preparation of project documentation, including the provision of design supervision, as part of the project entitled: "Construction of a section of railway line from Modlin station to Mazowiecki Port Lotniczy (MPL) Warsaw/Modlin and construction of Mazowiecki Port Lotniczy (MPL) Warsaw/Modlin railway station"

Rail link to Warsaw-Modlin Airport
Main project outcome
Reducing journey times, improving the punctuality of services and enhancing rail and road safety.

The project involves the construction of a new railway line leading directly to Warsaw-Modlin Airport and the construction of a new railway station, "Mazowiecki Port Lotniczy Warsaw/Modlin". The project also involves the redevelopment of the existing railway and road infrastructure, as well as numerous engineering structures and utility networks.

The aim of the project is to provide a direct rail link to the airport, improve transport accessibility in the region and make rail travel more attractive. Key objectives include reducing journey times, improving punctuality and enhancing safety on both rail and road networks.

The documentation has been prepared to a standard that enables the obtaining of administrative decisions, planning permission and the carrying out of construction works.

As part of the contract, we were responsible for preparing technical, surveying, geological and engineering, and environmental documentation, as well as tender documents. The project also included the preparation of traffic analyses, a programme and spatial concept, structural and detailed design drawings, and documentation for railway traffic control, telecommunications and traction power supply systems. Particular emphasis was placed on meeting interoperability requirements, implementing modern ERTMS/ETCS systems and ensuring compliance with applicable TSIs and national regulations.

We have secured all necessary approvals from network operators, public authorities and environmental and heritage protection bodies. The project also includes comprehensive measures to minimise the development's impact on the environment, including initiatives relating to nature conservation, water management and noise protection.

On 6 October 2025, the Governor of the Mazovia Province signed a location decision for the construction of a railway line leading to Warsaw-Modlin Mazovia Airport. A tender for the construction of the new line is currently underway. Work is due to begin in 2027, and the first passengers are expected to travel directly to the airport two years later.

Throughout the works, we will provide project supervision, supporting the client right through to the completion of the project.

We prepared the documentation in collaboration with our consortium partner, YLE Inżynierowie sp. z o.o.
